Job Title: "IRATA - Level 2"

Basic Objectives:
• Understand the scope of work for each task assigned.
• Perform work as per client and statutory requirements.
• Works closely with level 3 taking a greater role in project delivery, managing all technicians and ensuring that site specific matters are fully addressed.
• Responsible for induction and training of all new staff.
• Maintain an active role in the identification of opportunities for improvement in the company’s Quality
Quality, Safety, Health & Environmental Objectives:
• Ensure Company QHSE procedures, instructions and safety and environmental standards are understood and
complied with at all times.
• Health & Safety and Environmental Systems and where relevant assist in the implementation of these
improvements.
• Avoid harm to yourself and others. Utilise/wear all issued PPE in the correct manner.
• Check equipment is maintained in accordance with the company’s QHSE standards and defects are identified and follow up action initiated to repair, replace or withdraw defective equipment from service.
Main Responsibilities:
• Lead by example regarding safe practices
• Ensure all work is done in accordance with IRATA ICOP and Aanakaboot Rope access procedures
• Ensure that daily toolbox talk takes place and signed by all employees
• Ensure that any new or unforeseen hazards are identified and recorded
• Enforce a pre job inspection of all relevant equipment
• Inspect all rigging prior to use
• Enforce a “Buddy check”
• Ensure all relevant PPE are being used
• Enforce general housekeeping
• Phone or text line manager before leaving site
• Ensure that site is safe and secure and all equipment are locked away
• Co-operate with the site supervisors
• Ensure quality in workmanship
• Reporting to Rope Access Team leader/ Manager.
• Understand the scope of work including statutory requirements and perform accordingly.
• Assist IRATA Level 3 team leaders in carrying out a high angle jobs (or rescue when a situation arises).
• To be proficient with basic and advanced rescue techniques such as chest ascender mid-rope rescue, basic haul, cross haul rescue, long rope transfer rescue and aid climb rescue.
• Perform work as per client and statutory requirements.
• To be familiar with and follow Aanakaboot Integrated Management System, Code of conduct and safe working practices.
• Where appropriate, request support as necessary from the supervisor (Lead technician) to ensure sufficient backup during operations.
• Guide the IRATA Level 1 technicians to work together and carry out work safely and efficiently.
• Promote and maintain good public relations, maintain assigned company equipment and facilities in neat, workable condition and conduct self in exemplary manner at all times to perpetuate the good reputation enjoyed by the company.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
• IRATA Level 2 Certification
• Technical Trade Certification ITI
• Diploma or 2 years equivalent experience in Rope Access field.
• Must be able to demonstrate good Rope Access techniques and to demonstrate adequate safety awareness at all times.
• Must have good communication skills
• Fluent English language.
